2017-05-20 Sat

On 25th September, France will be issuing new 2-euro commemorative collector coins celebrating the 25th anniversary of the famous pink ribbon symbol that has been used over the years for creating awareness about breast cancer. The coin features a woman holding a pink ribbon over her left breast. A standard bimetallic composition and a coloured version with the pink ribbon will be released. The standard coin will cost €10 and the coloured one will cost €20.

€2 from the sale of each coin will go to Estée Lauder Company, which works towards creating awareness of the disease through education, research into a cure and support programs.

The outer ring of the bi-metallic coin is made of a copper-nickel alloy while the inner disc is made of nickel-brass. The reverse depicts Europe and "2 EURO". Other inscriptions include 25e ANNIVERSAIRE DU RUBAN ROSE ("25th Anniversary of the Pink Ribbon"), 1992 2017 and RF for the French Republic. The cornucopia mintmark of the Monnaie de Paris and the pentagon master's mark of French Mint Director Yves Sampo are also included. The outer ring features the 12 stars that are common for all Euro coins.
