International Day of the Midwives

Did you know that May 5th of ever year is the internationally recognised day for highlighting the work of midwives?The International Confederation of Midwives established the idea of the 'International Day of the Midwife' in the late 1980s. It was officially launched and the initiative formally was taken forth in 1992.
Keeping in mind the tireless and the thankless work of the service nurses, the Royal Australian Mint has issued a unique fine silver colour printed triangular proof coin. The coin design is inspired by the stunning architecture of the Australian War Memorial’s Hall of Memory.
The obverse of the coin has the Queen’s portrait and the reverse depicts a spectacular stained glass artworks created by Napier Waller.
