D. Brent Pogue Coin Collection Makes $106.7 Million

An American 1804 silver dollar had an estimated value between 8 and 10 million Dollars, at Sotheby's auction house on 13th March 2015 in London. The same rare 1804 silver dollar from the D. Brent Pogue coin collection fetched a record-breaking $3.3 million dollars. The complete collection was offered through a five-part sale over the past two years making a total of almost $106.7 million. The events were held by Stack’s Bowers Galleries of Santa Ana, California in partnership with Sotheby’s in Baltimore.The last day of the sale made $21.4 million by auctioning the earlier mentioned 1804 dollar, 1811 half cent for $998,750, and a 1793 Liberty Cap cent for $940,000, making it the most expensive circulated cent ever sold.
