Rare Nile River Egyptian Gold Coin to be Auctioned

The Editions V. Gadoury’s online auction will be offering an About Uncirculated 58 1964 gold 5-pound Egyptian coin that celebrates the inauguration of Aswan Dam Project to divert Nile River. The dam was a technological innovation built during Cold War when the Soviet Union and the United States of America were playing their cards to take more control of various parts of the world.The obverse features the Aswan Dam and a rising sun in the background representing the economic boom in Egypt after the dam was built. The dam was financed by Russia. American investments were used to move Abu Simbel temples out of the floodplain.
The coin has an opening bid of $900.
