2017-03-22 Wed

The 50th wedding anniversary of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark is celebrated by releasing a three-way joint issue stamp by Denmark, Faroe Islands, and Greenland on 15th May. They got married on 10th June 1967.

Some portions of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland are self-governing and have private postal administrations. A souvenir sheet featuring the royal couple on a single 50-krone stamp and animal symbols of the three entities in the selvage will be issued by all three postal departments. Denmark is represented by a swan, Faroe Islands by a ram and Greenland by a polar bear. The selvage also depicts a royal monogram and an inscription in gold. As per recommendations by the Royal couple, the mini-sheet features a photo of them having a simple private celebration.
