The Royal Australian Mint celebrates achievements of the famous motor racer, Sir Jack Brabham with the release of a commemorative coin. He won his third Formula 1 title over 50 years ago and is the only Formula 1 driver who won a title driving a car of his own construction. The coin depicts this very racing car along with his portrait. The green and gold track represents the colours of his original car.

He was the one to develop rear-engined cars of today’s times. This innovation helped him win the 1959 Formula 1 crown. The 2017 Formula 1 season is fast approaching and the coin, in a way, not only celebrates the spirit of racing but also innovative engineering. It also highlights the fact that anything is achievable if you put your heart, soul and mind into it. The coin has a mintage limit of 30 000 and costs AUS$13.50 each.
