Muhammad Bin Tughluq has a unique place in Indian history. He rose to the power in 1325AD. He shifted his capital, including his residence, from Delhi to Deogiri and renamed it as Daulatabad. The obverse of the coin reads as ‘Al-Wathiq Bi ta’yid Al-Rahman Muhammad Shah Al-Sultan’ meaning ‘He who trusts in the support of the Merciful’ within a circle; mint name and date 727 in the margin. And the reverse of the coin reads as ‘Ashhad an ia illah allah wa ashhad an Muhammad Abduhu Wa Rasuluhu’ meaning ‘I testify that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is his servant and his messenger’.
