Nasir Shah (AH 906-916; AD 1500-1510) was sultan of Malwa. He was son of a Ghiyath shah. Malwa Sultanate was a late medieval kingdom Probably of Turco-Afgan origin. This sultanate was founded by Dilawar Khan Gauri who was the governor of Delhi Sultanate in Malwa.

Nasir Shah took a great interest in his coinage. He issued coins in gold, silver and copper. Many of his coins are found in square shape which is so typical of his father’s reign. One of his gold tanka he issued is in “mihrabi” shape. Some of the special issue coins were minted in silver and are round in shape. One of his silver tanka which he issued is in diamond-shaped.

One of his gold square tanka, which weighs around 10.9g, was sold for INR 80,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 16th October 2015. Obverse of this coin reads as ‘Al-Wathiq Bi’l Samad lam Yazali Abul Muzaffar Nasir Shah, whereas the reverse side of the coin reads as ‘Bin Ghiyath Shah Al-Khalji Al-Sultan Khallada Mulkahu.
