New Maltese Silver Coins Honour European Council Presidency

Malta's first Presidency of the Council of the European Union was celebrated by the Central Bank of Malta and MaltaPost with the issue of a joint numismatic product on 12th January. The product consists of a silver coin and a silver foil stamp replica.The Royal Dutch Mint produced the coin featuring the emblem of Malta and the year of issue 2017 on the obverse and the official logo of the Maltese Presidency of the Council for the European Union on the reverse.
The €10 coin made of 28.28 grams of 0.925 silver is struck in proof quality and has a mintage limit of 2,500 coins.
A €3.59 silver replica postage stamp was produced for MaltaPost by the Royal Dutch Mint as well. The postage stamp design is similar to the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union postage stamp issue. Only 500 sets of this specially packaged joint product are available.
