Legendary sculptor Auguste Rodin is featured on France’s 2017 circulating commemorative €2 coin to mark his 100th death anniversary. Rodin’s most famous work, “The Thinker” is depicted on the obverse. He was born in 1840 and was known for his realistic style. The obverse also features the dual dates 1917–2017. The reverse features the common European map design.

10 million coins will be released for circulation on 21st February, 20,000 coins will be out for collector sales in Proof and in Brilliant Uncirculated versions. The Proof coin will cost €20 and the BU coin will cost €10.
