Two new coins were issued by the Swiss Mint on 26th January 2017, one of which is a 10-franc bimetallic coin featuring the Enzian flower. It is also the second coin in the three-part FLORA ALPINA (Alpine Flowers) series. The second commemorative coin is a 20-franc silver coin marking the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

Efforts of Huldrych Zwingli and John Calvin from Switzerland helped in promoting modernity, democracy and human rights during this Reformation period. The reform has had a significant impact on the culture, society and politics which lasted for 500 years.

The unique flora of the Alps and the mountain spring are some of the major Swiss attractions. The deep blue Enzian flower is one of the most popular Alpine flowers. 300 to 400 species of this flower are found mostly in the mountains of the Northern hemisphere and the Andes.
