After the end of the Great Recession, the end of the First Spouse $10 gold series in 2016 and the increasing demand for gold and gold bullion, there is a possibility that fractional American Gold Bullion coins might be soon re-introduced.

From 2006 to 2008, when the coin was first introduced, only one-ounce, $50 face value .9999 fine 24-karat gold coins struck in Philadelphia and West Point were available. Half-ounce ($25), quarter-ounce ($10) and tenth-ounce ($5) denominations were introduced in 2008 but were never released again.
