By 9th January, 3,747,500 American Eagle silver bullion coins were sold which is 35% higher than the 2016 sales numbers. The 2017 starting sales for American Buffalo 1-ounce gold coins on the other hand, is less than 2016. The coins will be struck at West Point Mint but the exact numbers have not been revealed!

The American Eagle silver bullion coin is a 1-ounce .999 fine silver piece; the American Eagle .9167 fine gold bullion coins come in four different weights and the American Buffalo $50 coin is a .9999 fine gold piece.
