South Korean Banknotes Celebrate 2018 Winter Olympic Games

A South Korean a 2,000-won commemorative note will be issued at the end of 2017 to celebrate the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang. The obverse features a pair of speed skaters with five other events. The reverse features a tiger which is South Korea’s symbolic animal. As per media reports, many people did not like the design and found them to be childish.Modern Olympics Games was commemorated for the first time on currency with a special coin that was released during Helsinki Olympics in 1952. Commemorative paper money became more popular after the price of gold and silver started increasing.
