The British Royal family’s dynastic name – “Windsor” was introduced in 1917 due to the Great War. A new crown coin was issued on 1st January to celebrate 100 years of this name which continues to be used even today. The name should survive through the next generations and heirs to the British throne.

The coin features Windsor Castle’s Round Tower flying the royal standard, a wreath of acorn and leaf clusters, St. Edward’s crown, the inscriptions CENTENARY OF THE HOUSE OF WINDSOR and 2017. The obverse features the latest portrait design of HM Queen Elizabeth II and the inscription 5 POUNDS.
