The 2017 Effigy Mounds National Monument quarter dollar design will be released at an official launch ceremony in on 7th February in Iowa at the Allamakee Community School District High School Gym, 1059 Third Ave. N.W., in Waukon. The reverse design incorporates an aerial view of mounds in the Marching Bear Group.

A coin exchange will be held where people can exchange 40-coin, $10 face-value rolls of circulation-quality Uncirculated 2017-D Effigy Mounds National Monument quarter dollars. One of the new quarter dollars will be given for free to school children.

A coin forum will also be conducted on 6th February at the Effigy Mounds National Monument Visitor Center, 151 Highway 76, in Harpers Ferry, where current and future coin programs will be discussed.

The quarter dollar will be released into general circulation on 6th February.
