The US Mint’s 225th anniversary will be started with a news event on 12th January 2017 in the Cash Room of the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. The Congress legislatively authorised The Bureau of the Mint on 2nd April 1792.

A ceremony will reveal the designs of the dual-dated 1792–2017-W American Liberty gold $100 coin which will be released in spring 2017.

An informational brochure depicted the obverse design of the high relief coin. The edge device includes 225TH ANNIVERSARY and 13 five-point stars imparted using a three-part, segmented collar.

A proposed reverse design depicting an eagle with its wings on the downward thrust has been proposed by the concerned departments. But the design would be officially revealed only on 12th January.

The contributions of the Mint for American society and commerce over the years will be celebrated throughout next year. The Mint has evolved a lot since it was established in 1792.
