Norway to Release New Banknotes

Norway showcased its new banknotes to the citizens on 22nd November. New 100-krone and 200-krone notes will be put into circulation on 30th May 2017. Most of Norway's neighbouring countries have issued highly secure banknotes, which is why the country has decided to do the same for avoiding problems of counterfeiting. Officials said that fake notes are not very commonly found in Norway; even then it is important to take such a precautionary action.The new Norwegian banknotes will not feature portraits like their older counterparts. The theme followed for the design would be "The Sea". The obverse features a traditional iconic design while the reverse will feature a different maritime motif for each denomination. The pixellated patterns on the reverse are inspired from a grid system based on the Beaufort wind force scale.
Officials stated that the sea represents a unique story of Norway and featuring these designs on banknotes is the ideal way to celebrate that story.
The other notes will be released in 2018 and 2019. The general public got a chance to take a look at these future notes on 22nd November.
