Naushad Ali Wahid Ali, one of the foremost musicians of the Hindi Film industry was born today on 25th December in 1919. Naushad was conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Bhushan in 1982 and 1992, respectively, for his contribution to the Bollywood film industry.Miniature Sheets and First day covers was issued on 03 May 2013 by India Post to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema. The Miniature sheets contain 9 stamps of denomination Rupees 05 each. The stamps depict the Golden personalities of the Indian Film Industry.
This particular stamp has Naushad Ali Wahid Ali along with Majrooh Sultanpuri, Nitin Bose, Prithviraj Kapoor, Raichand Boral, Ruby Myers, Sohrab Modi, Tapan Sinha and Yash Chopra.
Dadasaheb Phalke released his feature film Raja Harishchandra on 3rd May 1913. After 100 years, Indian film industry is the largest in the world in terms of movies released every year as well as in terms on viewership.
Centenary of Indian cinema was celebrated in 2013 and the Government of India created a record of sorts by issuing 50 stamps on a single day. These stamps were issued in form of six Miniature Sheets.
