Lebanon’s Postal Stamps Feature Lesser Known Freedom Fighters

LibanPost issued 15 stamps depicting individuals who contributed to the country’s independence. Earlier stamps featured first head-of-state (Bisharah Al Khoury) and first prime minister (Riad Al Solh). The latest stamps depict the less popular yet significant personalities who played a vital role in gifting the nation its independence.Saeb Salam, the father of current Prime Minister Tamam Salam, Sabri Hamadih, Camille Chamoun, Abdul Hamid Karami, Habib Abu Shahla, Majid Arslan and Henri Pharaon are depicted on the new set of stamps. Pierre Gemayel, the founder of the Phalange Party, Rashid Baydun, Hamid Franjieh and Salim Taklah, were the other important personalities who are featured on the stamps
Lebanon celebrated its 73rd anniversary as an independent nation on 22nd November and the new postage stamps pay tribute to all the people who contributed towards the country’s independence.
LibanPost gathered a large crowd at its headquarters in Beirut’s Riad Al Solh Square. Several children of notable figures were present, including Minister of Tourism Michel Pharaon, former deputy Samir Franjieh, and the head of the National Liberal Party head, deputy Dory Chamoun.
