Walking Liberty Centennial Gold Half Dollar To Be Released Today

The third and the final commemorative coin celebrating U.S. coin designs of 1916 will be on sale from today at noon. The Mercury Dime Centennial Gold Coin was the first one which was issued on 21st April depicting the 1916 Winged Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. The second coin in the series was released on 8th September, named the Standing Liberty Centennial Gold Coin design, celebrating Hermon A. MacNeil’s 1916 quarter-dollar design. The third and final coin would be depicting Weinman’s Walking Liberty 1916 half dollar design.The half dollar features the Liberty, the US flag flying in the breeze, carrying branches of laurel and oak, symbolical of civil and military glory. The reverse features an eagle on a mountain crag, wings unfolded and a sapling of mountain pine, which symbolises America.
