Thailand’s New Commemorative Banknotes in Big Demand

On Tuesday morning at 2 am, many gathered to buy 100-baht commemorative banknotes of Thailand that celebrate the seventh cycle birth anniversary on 5th December 2011 of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.People stood outside the head office of the Government Savings Bank (GSB) which finally resulted in a kilometre-long queue. Officials stated that a total of 90,000 of 100-baht commemorative banknotes would be distributed at the bank’s headquarters. 500 banknotes mounted on a cardboard cover will be sold for 200 baht each and 1 banknote on an acrylic frame and music box package for 500 baht is also available.
