One Hundred Rupee of King George V

“I promise to pay the bearer the sum of One Hundred Rupee on demand at any office of issues”, we always use notes in our daily life but did you thought about this line on note or ever stop to see its feature, beautiful designs or the minuet detailing.

Today’s note belongs to the reign of Emperor George V which is made of white Handmade Moulded paper. Released in 1927, this note was only meant for Lahore Circle (Circulation in Lahore).

Its obverse bears the portrait of George V on the right Window with serial number both on top right and lower left. Denomination is also seen on top left and lower right corners with Stylised GRI above the portrait with Circle of issues “Lahore” in top centre. Denomination ONE/HUNDRED/RUPEE in middle panel which is signed FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA.

Its reverse depicts the language panel in centre with “100 Rupees” written eight languages. ‘RUPEES’ is depicted at the bottom of the left window and 100 below the right window. This note also have Micro-lettering pattern which have 100 within a decorative square in both windows on reverse which is one of its interesting feature of this note.

This kind of notes were initially printed in England with the circle of issues in black but later on printing was done at Nasik with circle of issue in Green in top centre .

King George V reign saw a lot of changes in the economical structure of India and World because it was his reign which saw the Great inflation, Great depression and the Great War (World War-I).
