A New Special Cover from India Promotes Literacy

A special cover has been issued by India Post on the occasion of International literacy day. Released on 8th Sept at Bengaluru, this specially released cover aims at promoting adult literacy in India.International Literacy Day is celebrated all over the globe on 8th September each year to emphasize the great importance of the literacy to the individuals, society and communities. First celebrated in 1966, The International Literacy Day 2016 was the Golden Jubilee year.
Hence, on this occasion India post has issued a special cover. The cover depicts a book shaped column in which a girl is shown studying in light with a book behind her. A special cancellation mark is also seen with this year’s slogan “Reading the Past, Writing the Future”.
Apart from celebrating the 50th year, the whole purpose behind issuing this special cover is to spread awareness about adult literacy.
