Coin of Bengal Sultan Sold for INR 24,00,000

A Silver coin Bengal sultan Jalal Al Din Muhammad, was sold for INR 24, 00,000 on Todywalla Auction held on 3rd feb 2016.Jalal al din Muhammad was the son of the Raja Ganesh who was a local Zamindar in Bengal. When given an opportunity he made his son the ruler of Bengal. For the same agenda, he was converted to Islam by his father to gain the support of Muslim nobles.
This silver double Tanka weighs around 21.5 gm. King’s name - Jalal-Al din and his title - Abu Muzaffar Muhammad Shah As-Sultan is written on the obverse side within a circle. The reverse depicts a lion with his leg raised along with the legend “Ganesh Abtar” above the lion.
Only five more specimens are known of such type and this particular coin has sold for INR 24,00,000!
