The Cabinet Ministry of Pakistan has officially approved the decision to change the composition and other features of the 5 rupees coin and introduce new 10 rupees coin. Officials believe that the 10 Rs coin would have a longer life than the banknotes of the same denomination. Apart from that, coins can be melted and reused again. The change in composition, intrinsic value of metal and dimension of 5 Rs coin would be changed as the intrinsic value of metal has risen and there has been a considerable devaluation of the Pakistani rupee.

Several other important financial decisions were taken at the same meeting.
