Royal Australian Mint recently released the Holden Heritage Coin Collection of 11 colour-printed, uncirculated 50 cent coins, each featuring a classic Holden Heritage car, from the 48-215 (FX) through to the Commodore. An extra 12th coin would be given to those who bought the entire collection as a set. A lot of Holden Heritage fans came down at the launch ceremony to take a look at these coins and many really liked the HK Monaro 327 coin. The cars have a rich history behind them and the coin-set launch celebrates the 160th anniversary of Holden when it was established as an Adelaide saddler. In 1908, the company moved into the automobile industry and was bought by General Motors in 1931, launching the Holden "FX" in 1948.
Officials revealed that Holden cars reflect the changes in the Australian culture and lifestyle over the decades.
