100th Anniversary of Beaumont-Hamel War Commemorated

The 100th anniversary of the battle of Beaumont-Hamel was observed with the release of a commemorative silver collector coin by the Royal Canadian Mint. The coin’s reverse depicts a solider charging ahead under enemy fire. An angel which is depicted on the victory medals is also featured on the reverse. Unlike other Canadian coins, this obverse features King George with selective gold plating, to pay tribute to the ruling monarch during the War.This coin is a part of the 8-coin series which began in 2013 to observe the 100th anniversary of World War I and the 75th anniversary of World War II. Canadian artist Silvia Pecota who designed the reverse of the coin is a participant of the Canadian Forces Artist Program.
The mintage limit of this collectible coin is 10,000.
