50th Anniversary of The Battle of Long Tan Celebrated on $5 Australian Coin

The Australian mint issued special commemorative coins to celebrate 50 years of the battle of Long Tan when brave soldiers left the Nui Dat taskforce base on 18th August 1966 without even carrying a pinch of fear in their hearts. The $5 coin features the cross at the Long Tan rubber plantation as a mark of tribute to all those soldiers. The mintage of the coin is limited to 15,000.During the third anniversary of the battle, a cross was erected in the Long Tan rubber plantation. Since then, 18th August was then celebrated as Long Tan Day or Vietnam Veterans Day in Australia.
