Designs for the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coins would be created by the general public. 18+ U.S citizens and permanent residents who like visual arts, illustrations or sculpting have been invited by the U.S. mint to come up with the designs. The competition would be held from 1st August to 17th October 2016.

A prize-money of $10,000 will be awarded to the winner and his/ her initials would be inscribed on the coins. The winner would be announced in June 2017. A special law was introduced for this competition. The jury is chaired by the Secretary of the Treasury and would comprise of three members from the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee and three members from the Commission of Fine Arts.
