King George VI Silver Rupee Minted at Bombay Sold For INR 5,25,00

George VI was Emperor of the British Empire from December 11, 1936, until he died in 1952. The British Raj dissolved under his rule in August 1947.King George Vi issued this silver rupee in 1939. The coin's obverse features the crowned head of George VI facing left, with ‘GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR’ inscribed around it. The reverse side displays ‘ONE RUPEE INDIA’ and ‘Yek Rupya’ in Persian, separated by the year within the inner circle. A wreath composed of lotus flowers, shamrock leaves, and roses is placed within the outer circle, all inside a border with teeth. This silver rupee was sold for INR 5,25,000 at an auction by Oswal Antiques held in Mumbai on July 14, 2024.
