Henry III of England died today in 1272

Henry III was born on the 1st of October, 1207 in Winchester, Hampshire, England. Henry III started his rule in 1234 and continued it till 1272. He was a very charitable and cultured ruler. He could not though rule efficiently. He was arrogant in the military and diplomatic affairs but was even very cowardly, impractical and ambitious.

The King and the Barons started drifting in 1237. Henry III fought his last conquest against Montfort, who was his major Maronial opponent in April 1264. In the very next month, Henry was defeated and captured in the Battle of Lews. Later, England was ruled by Montfort in the name of Henry until he was defeated and killed at the Battle of Evesham, Worcestershire in 1264 by Henry “s son Edward in 1265. Henry then was Senile and weak allowed Edward to rule the kingdom. Henry died on 16TH of November in the year 1272 at the age of 65.
