The 1000 Spanish Pesetas banknote was in circulation in Spain between 1992 and 2002. The Banco de España issued Spanish Peseta banknotes in 12 different denominations, including this 1000 Spanish Pesetas banknote. The 1000 Spanish Pesetas banknotes; were withdrawn from circulation in 2002.The front side of this 1000 Spanish features Hernan Cortes, a Spanish Conquistador, on the green paper colour and the text 'BANCO DE ESPANA', written vertically on the left side of the note. The back side features Francisco Pizarro, the Spanish conqueror of the Inca Empire. The Coat of Arms, Astrolabe, and denomination '1000' are on the left side of the note. The Cathedral of Lima, symbolizing the Christianization of America placed on the bottom right side, the outline of the globe with recurrent rudders in the background. The sword and helmet are on the top left side.
