Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu, popularly known as Mother Theresa, was a Roman Catholic nun who devoted her life to serving the poor and helpless.Mother Theresa was born of Albanian descent family. At the age of 12, she strongly felt the call of God and decided to be a missionary to spread the love of Christ. When turn 18, Mother Theresa left her parental home in Skopje and joined the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish community of nuns with missions in India. She spent many years in Calcutta and founded the Missionaries of Charity.
In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and became a symbol of charitable, selfless work. In 2016 Mother Teresa was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Teresa.
