The sale of 2016 $100 American Eagle 1-ounce, .9995 fine Platinum Bullion Coin will begin on 25th July. The coins were introduced first in 1997 as an annual product, but there was a break in its production from 2009. Authorized Purchasers would be selling these collector coins for a two-way distribution for retail as well as investment markets.

Only proof Platinum Eagles in the 1-ounce size have been released annually since 1997. The theme for this year’s coin design is Torches of Liberty which was released on 30th June and sold out within an hour.

The new coin features the Portrait of Liberty and the common reverse depicts a soaring bald eagle. The designs of Proof editions change each year.

Officials have stated that the coins will be sold in batches and will be available until the inventory is exhausted.
