Muhammad Bin Firuz Silver Tanka Listed For INR 1,10,000

Muhammad Bin Firuz was the ruler of the Tughluq dynasty. He ruled this dynasty for almost three to four years between 1390 and1393.

The Tughluq dynasty was the Muslim dynasty of the Turkish dynasty which ruled over the Delhi Sultanate in the medieval period.

When Abu Bakr Shah Tughluq sat on the throne of the Tughluq dynasty, Muhammad Shah and his uncle opposed him. They both launched an attack against Abu Bakr for the throne of Delhi Sultanate in 1390. Abu Bakr Shah Tughluq was defeated, and Muhammad Bin Firuz succeeded him as the sultan of the Tughluq dynasty.

This silver tanka, which weighs around 10.40g was issued by Muhammad Bin Firuz during his rule in the Hijri year 793. The obverse side of this coin is inscribed as Al-Sultan al-'Azam Muhammad Shah Firuz Shah Sultan Khalida. The reverse side of this coin is inscribed as Fi Zaman al-Imam Amir al -MumineenKhulidatKhilafatahu, followed by AH date 793. This silver tanka is listed for INR 1,10,000 in the upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery that will be held on 6th August 2022.
