President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Commemorative Stamp

Farhruddin Ali Ahmed served as 5th President of India between 1974 and 1977. He was the second Muslim President of India and also the second President of India to die in office. He is one of the most respected people in the country.

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the son of an army doctor from Assam. He completed his graduation from St Stephen's College, Delhi, and master's from the University of Cambridge in 1927. After returning to India, he was elected to Assam Legislature in 1935. In 1938, he was elected, as Assam's minister of Finance and Revenue.

The Government of India issued this commemorative stamp in 1977, to commemorate him and his work.
