Reserve Bank of India commemorated the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi by minting coins in denominations of 20 paise, 50 paise, 1 rupee, and 10 rupees.

The obverse of the coin shows the Lion capital of Ashokan Pillar, value below. And the reverse of the coin portrays the effigy of Mahatma Gandhi which faces the left side. The issued year of these coins is 1969.

The used metals in 20 paise are Aluminium-Bronze, 50 Paisa has Nickel, 1 Rupee is composed of Nickel and 10 Rupees is consists of Silver.

The 20 Paisa weighs 4.5 grams, 50 Paisa weighs 5 grams, 1 Rupee weighs 10 grams and 10 Rupees weigh 15 grams.
