This Archer-type gold dinar was issued; by the Gupta king Chandragupta II; during his rule in Gupta Empire. This coin is listed for INR 2,50,000 in an upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery that will be held in Kolkatta on April 2, 2022.
Chandragupta II was the ruler of the Gupta Empire; he ruled this empire between 375 CE and 415 CE. He was one of the most powerful emperors of the Gupta Empire.
The obverse of this gold dinar depicts King standing holding strung bow in one hand and an arrow in the other; Garuda banner in the background and Brahmi legend Deva ShriMaharajadhi(raja)… from 12 to 5 o'clock. Brahmi legend ‘Chandra’; written between the bow-string and king's body. The reverse side of this coin depicts the seated goddess Lakshmi on a lotus, Brahmi legend ShriVikaramah in the right field, and Tamgha to the left.
