Gold Tanka of the Tughluq Dynasty sold for INR 200000

The Tughluq dynasty emerged during the medieval period in India. They were Turk-Indian origin; they ruled over Delhi Sultanate between 1320 CE and 1414 CE.Muhammad Bin Tughluq was the son of Ghiyath Al-Din Tughluq; he sat on the throne after the death of his father in the year 1325 CE and ruled it till 1351 CE. He was the most controversial personality in medieval Indian history and was very tolerant of religious matters.
This gold tanka; was issued by Muhammad Bin Tughluq during his rule in Delhi Sultanate. This gold tanka was sold for INR 200000 in an online auction of Oswal Antiques held in Mumbai on 19th February 2022.
This gold tanka minted in ShahrTughluqabad weighs around 10.98g. The obverse side of this gold tanka is inscribed as; "Abh’lMuzaffarTughluq Shah Al-Sultan Anara Allah Burhanahu”. The reverse side of this gold tanka is inscribed as “Al sultan Al-Sa’id Al Shahid Al-Ghazi Ghiyath Al-DunyaWa’l din”.
