Delhi Police today is a premier police organization which has the reputation of performing exceptionally well under the most adverse circumstances. Delhi police has always set exemplary standards in handling of massive law and order issues in the National Capital or providing security to national and international dignitaries or carrying out investigations of complex and sensitive crimes.

In 1966, the Government of India constituted the Delhi Police Commission. The Commisionerate System came into force from 1st July 1978. India is celebrating Platinum Jubilee year of the foundation of Delhi Police. With strength of over 80,000 personnel, it is the largest metropolitan police in the world.

To celebrate the occasion, India Post has issued a Postage Stamp of 500 Paise (Rs.5) showing a Delhi Police Personnel assisting a visually impaired couple across the street at a zebra crossing with a police vehicle in the background having number 75 on it suggesting the 75th anniversary of the Delhi Police.
