Maharaja Pratap Singh Gaekwad was the king of Princely State Baroda. Pratap Singh was the last ruling king of Baroda. He sat on the throne of Baroda; after the death of his grandfather Maharaja Saiyajirao Gaekwad III in the year 1939 CE. In 1947, India got independence from British rule, and in the year 1949, Baroda got merged into the Union of India. In 1947, India independent from British rule, and in the year 1949, Baroda merged into the Union of India.This silver 1/3 mohur was issued by King Maharaja Pratap Singh Gaekwad; during his rule in Baroda. The weight of this coin is around 2.68g, issued in Vikram Samvat year 1995. The obverse of this coin depicts ‘Crowned bust of Maharaja Pratap Singh Gaekwad facing towards right and legend ‘H.H MAHARAJA PRATAP SINGH GAEKWAR- BARODA’ around. The reverse side of this coin is inscribed as ‘Denomination 1/3 Mohur, date 1995 & scimitar, a legend in Devanagari.
This silver 1/3 mohur was sold for INR 1,50,000 in an auction of Oswal Antiques held in Mumbai on 1st August 2021.
