The sale of 2016 proof 1-ounce .9995 fine Platinum American Eagle will begin on 30th June with a mintage limit of 10,000 coins. One coin per household is the restriction on ordering.

The reverse designs of these coins keep changing annually. The latest design will last for the next two years and is based on the theme Torches of Liberty. The design features Liberty holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Apart from that, an eagle is depicted with its wings out-stretched. Obverses feature a depiction of Statue of Liberty.

Its starting price will be set on the day before its release and based on the market price of platinum on that day.
