Today, in the year 1990, Nelson Mandela got a release from prison after 27 years. Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He joined African National Congress (ANC), the oldest Black political organization in South Africa in 1944. While working in ANC, he became the leader of ANC. He became the president of ANC, in 1952. In 1960, after the massacre of the Peaceful Black demonstration at Sharpeville, Nelson helped organize a paramilitary branch of the ANC to engage in guerrilla warfare against the white minority government.

In 1961, he was arrested for the first time for the reason but was released. later, he was arrested again for illegally leaving the country. He was convicted and sentenced to 5 years of jail at Robben Island Prison in 1962. He was put on trial again in 1964 on charges of sabotage. In June 1964, he was convicted along with several other ANC leaders and sentenced to life in prison.
