Septimus Severus was a Roman Emperor that ruled the Roman during the Imperial period from 193 CE to 211 CE. The emperors have used a variety of different titles throughout history. He was born in Leptis Magna in the Roman provinces of Africa. Septimius Severus is considered the founder of the Severan Dynasty, he was the last dynasty before the crises of the third century. Septimius Severus sat on the throne of the Roman Empire; after, the death of Emperor Pertinax in 193 during the Year of the Five Emperors. His reign marks a critical stage; in the development of the absolute despotism that characterized the later Roman Empire.This commemorative stamp of Septimius Severus; was issued by Bulgaria in the year 1977.
