The full name of Galileo was Galileo di Vincenzo Bonaiuti de' Galilei. He was an Italian scholar, astronomer, mathematician, physicist, philosopher, and professor. He is called the father of observational astronomy. He has played an important role in any history of science and, in many histories of philosophy. Galileo constructed a telescope and supported the Copernican theory, which supports a sun-centred solar system. In 1609, Galileo came to known about the spyglass the device used to see distinct objects closer. He applied all his mathematical knowledge and technical skills to improve upon the spyglass and build a telescope. Galileo was the first person to see a moon through a telescope.
