Nahapana was one of the most important rulers of Western Kshatrapas. He ruled Western Kshatrapas during the 1st or 2nd century CE. Nahapana was the descendant of the Indo-Scythians, in northwestern India. According to one of his coins, he was the son of Bhumaka. The Kshtrap dynasty became very powerful with the accession of Nahapana to the throne.
This silver Drachm that weighs around 2.2g was issued by king Nahapana during his rule. The obverse of this coin depicts the ‘Bust of the king facing right, corrupt Greek legend around. The reverse of this coin depicts ‘Thunderbolt, Arrow and Brahmi and Kharoshthi legend Rajno Kshaharatasa Nahapanasa’.
