This gold dinar was issued by Kumargupta of the Gupta dynasty during his rule. Kumargupta was the son of Gupta emperor Chandragupta II and queen Dhruvadevi.
This ‘Horseman type’ gold dinar that weighs around 8.14g is listed for INR 3,50,000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Antiques that will be held in Mumbai on 5th December 2020. The obverse of this coin depicts ‘King riding caparisoned Horse carrying a bow Brahmi legend ‘P?ithvitalambarasasi Kumaragupto jayatyajita?’. The reverse of this coin depicts ‘Nimbate Goddess seated in profile on a stool feeding peacock Brahmi legend ‘Ajitamahendra’ to right and a tamgha in left field’.
