Copper coin of Kutch

The rulers of Kutch were Jareja Rajput who had came from Tatta in Sind; they conquered Kutch during the 15th Century. In the year 1617 CE when Akbar conquered Gujarat sultanate, the Kutch ruler Rao Bharmal I visited Jahangir and had to maintain a good relation with Mughal Empire which had made Independent throughout the Mughal Period.

This copper Dokodo was issued by Bharmalji I during the Hijri year 1028. He had issued this coin in the name of Akbar the Great and his son Jahangir. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name of Akbar and Jahangir. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the Devanagari legend ‘Rau Sri Bharaji’.

This rare Dokdo was sold for INR 19,000 which weighs around 8.6g was sold for INR 19,000 by Todywalla Auction.
