The Roman Emperor has ruled the Roman Empire during the imperial period. The emperors have used a variety of different titles throughout history.

Lucius Septimius Severus was the ruler of the Roman Empire. Emperor Lucius Septimius Severus ruled the Roman Empire between 193 CE and 211 CE. Septimius Severus; is considered as the founder of the Severan Dynasty; it was the last dynasty before the crises of the third century. Septimius Severus sat on the throne of the Roman Empire after the death of Emperor Pertinax in 193 during the Year of the Five Emperors.

This silver Denarius that weighs around 3.11g was issued by Septimius Severus during his rule in the Roman Empire. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘laureate head to the right with legend SEVERVS PIVS AVG around’. The reverse of this coin inscribed as ‘Neptune standing left-leaning on raised right leg placed on a rock and holding trident’.
